The construction of Medusa Audio Tampering was a long and involved process. The task of putting three separate studios and a mastering room and three lounges in one building was more involved then one might think. The building was completely gutted out and studio one “The Jam Room” was constructed. It is a simple two -room set up using a modular digital recorder and outboard gear. The booth is floated and well decoupled. This is a fun room to hang out in and Jam out ideas while recording. It’s a great room to make rough demos and real time recordings.
The downstairs studio was constructed next. It has a separate stone drum room, and several isolation booths. It is based on a control 24 console and pro-tools HD system. This room is comfortable and it’s a fun room to work in. It has a flat frequency response and features a five foot base trap in the front wall. This room excels at tracking, editing, and mixing down. The artist lounge is located just off this studio and it’s a great place to relax and watch a movie or write some lyrics.
Studio proper was built next; it’s a large tracking room that has easy access from outside. This room is acoustically tuned, comfortable, air conditioned, and large enough to fit any project.
The main control room was the most complicated room to design and construct. It has a balance of absorption and diffusion and has a flat frequency response. It is capable of mixing in 5.1 surround with the mains being a four way with 18” subs.
The console of choice was an Audient ASP8024 coupled with a dual layer control to operate the Pro-Tools HDX system. The 24-track studer A827 tape machine is linked to Pro-Tools using an Endless Analog CLASP system.
The mastering room at "Medusa Audio Tampering" is a digital room designed to function simultaneously alongside the analog control room.It is capable of tracking, editing, mixing and mastering. It is also the Fourth control room at "Medusa." Two separate projects can be tracked, edited, mixed and mastered at the same time. Three tracking rooms can be used at the same time and accessed from either control room. Mastering is done on a vintage Ensiniq PARIS workstation.
